Canon Paul Massey

Dear Christ the King and Mid-South Diocese Friends,

As I announced during the Christ the King Christmas Party, Father Paul Massey, after 16+ years, is concluding his ministry at Christ the King. Paul served as a faithful layman, a deacon, and, finally, as a priest. About eight years ago, he and Judy planted a mission church in Fayetteville and, for the last several years, he has been dividing his duties between Christ the King and Church of the Holy Cross.

Early in 2012, Father Paul indicated a desire to begin to phase down his ministry at CTK while increasing his ministry at CHC and, so, he began working one day a week at CTK rather than his normal three. At a recent meeting with Father Paul, he reminded me that he turned 70 back in November and asked to be relieved of his duties as Curate at Christ The King Church effective December 31, 2012.

Father Paul, a charter member of CTK, has served our congregation lovingly and faithfully. He has been a big help to me personally and I will miss our daily contact and ministry together. In addition, our Rector’s Council will miss his service as its secretary and his wisdom and humor as we deliberate on the direction for our church.

Father Paul and Dr. Judy plan to remain very active in our denomination. He will continue as pastor of Church of the Holy Cross in Fayetteville, as the Canon to the Ordinary, as a member of the Commission on Ordained Ministry, and as a member of the Bishop’s Council and the Archbishop’s Council. Dr. Judy will continue to lead our Diocesan Lay Education Programs.

Please let these precious servants of God know how much you love and appreciate them the next time you see them…and keep them in your prayers.
We honor and bless this wonderful couple!

Warmly,

+ Bishop David
